Ivanov, Henrikson-Brandt Claim Centennial Conference Titles

LANCASTER, PA – Johns Hopkins added two more Centennial Conference titles Saturday and remains in first place through three days at the championship. The Blue Jays have totaled 653.5 points through 12 events.
 
Hopkins grabbed silver in the first event of the night, the 200 Free Relay. Michael Ivanov, Larry Yu, Aden Li and Avery Clapp finished in 1:20.95 – the sixth fastest time in program history and an NCAA B time. The team of Justin Ely, Bryce Lloyd, Kai Henrikson-Brandt and Christian Mayr won the B Final with a time of 1:22.76.
 
The Blue Jays then grabbed 75 points as they took second through sixth place in the 400 IM. Matthew Hartshorn led the way as he clocked in at 3:54.06. Alessandro Pereira took third in 3:56.05, followed by Larkin Helman in fourth (3:59.59). Julian Maycock placed fifth (4:01.29) and Willi Dunlap placed sixth (4:03.60). Both Hartshorn and Pereira's times are NCAA B times.
 
Hopkins followed that up by taking second, third and fourth in the 100 Fly. Henrikson-Brandt earned the silver with a swim of 48.16, followed just one-hundredth of a second later by Avery Clapp. Li finished in fourth with a time of 48.25. All three Blue Jays posted NCAA B times. In addition, Rad Couture finished in third in the B Final with a swim of 49.59. Josiah March claimed bronze in the 200 Free as he touched the wall in 1:39.90. Ken Ning finished in eighth place with a time of 1:41.90. Jack Cornish placed eighth in the B Final in 1:44.29.
 
Hopkins ended the night with a pair of titles in the 100 Breast and 100 Back. Ivanov earned his first individual conference title as he beat the field with a time of 55.43 in the 100 Breast. Ely then took the bronze as he touched in 56.45. Ivanov's title in the 100 Breast is the first by a Blue Jay since 1998.
 
Henrikson-Brandt followed with gold in the 100 Back by breaking his own conference record. He finished in 47.70 to lead a quartet of Blue Jays in the top five. His 100 Back title is the first for the Blue Jays since 2008. Li claimed the bronze (48.12), followed by Dylan Jewett (48.58) and Lloyd (48.79). All four posted NCAA B times the finals.
 
The championships will conclude on Sunday, February 22, beginning at 8:00 am. Sunday's scheduled was adjusted due to the winter weather slated to hit the area.
