Champions! Johns Hopkins Grabs Program's 36th Conference Title

LANCASTER, PA – Johns Hopkins made its Centennial Conference debut this year and took home the crown with 940.5 points. It is the Blue Jays first conference title since 2006 (ECAC) and the 36th all-time program history. The Blue Jays won 11 titles over the four days, and freshman Kai Henrikson-Brandt was named the Most Outstanding Performer.

Hopkins kicked off the final day in dominating fashion, grabbing four of the top five spots in the 1650 Free. Alessandro Pereira led the Blue Jays as he touched the wall in 15:40.65, breaking the championship meet record. Jack Cornish took silver in 15:44.37 with Josiah March claiming bronze (15:47.98). All three turned in NCAA B times with their swims. Ken Ning finished in fifth place with a time of 16:15.68.

Henrikson-Brandt then completed his sweep of the Backstroke events, winning the 200 in 1:45.89. His time is the seventh fastest in program history, as well as a championship meet record. Bryce Lloyd finished in fourth place (1:46.98) while Dylan Jewett took seventh place (1:49.62). Both Henrikson-Brandt and Lloyd's times are NCAA B times.

Michael Ivanov followed with a fifth-place finish in the 100 Free. His time of 45.27 is a program freshman record. Christian Mayr placed 14th (46.63) and Justin Ely took 16th place (47.03). The Blue Jays then grabbed first through fourth in the 200 Breast. Larry Yu paced the field with a swim of 2:01.51 to grab gold. Larkin Helman took silver in 2:02.02 while Matthew Hartshorn took bronze in 2:03.31. Julian Maycock rounded out the Blue Jay sweep with a time of 2:04.29 for fourth.

Avery Clapp earned the fourth time on day for the Blue Jays, clocking in at 1:46.43 to take gold in the 200 Fly. He broke the conference record by two seconds and won the race by just over four seconds. His time is also the sixth fastest in program history. Rad Couture finished in fifth place in 1:52.02 and Aden Li took 10th place in 1:54.73.

Hopkins closed out the meet with bronze in the 400 Free Relay. Ivanov, Clapp, Lloyd and Yu finished in 2:25.26, the sixth best time in program history. The quartet's time is also an NCAA B time. The team of Henrikson-Brandt, Li, Ely and Mayr finished in 10th place with a time of 3:04.24.

JHU will return to the pool at the 2026 NCAA Championships, March 18-21 in Indianapolis, IN.

Notes: Pereira's 1650 Free title is the first by a Blue Jay since 2016 • Henrikson-Brandt's 200 Back and Yu's 200 Breast titles are the first since 2008 • Clapp is the first Blue Jay to win the 200 Fly since 2006.
