LANCASTER, PA –
Ken Lee captured a pair of Centennial Conference titles on Saturday and Johns Hopkins moved into second place. The Blue Jays count 542.5 points through three days and sit just 18.5 points out of first.
Hopkins opened the night with a bronze medal in the 200 Free Relay.
Kimberly Lan,
Elizabeth Cohen,
Anna Miler and
Jaya Veerapaneni finished with an NCAA B time of 1:34.38. In addition, the team of
Claire Han,
Stella Zhang,
Reese Rosenthal and
Renee Bak won the B Final with a time of 1:36.02.
Rachel Davis then grabbed bronze in the 400 IM as she touched in 4:29.04, an NCAA B time.
Maddie Horner followed in sixth place with a swim of 4:37.47. Lee then claimed the first of their two titles, clocking in with an NCAA B time of 55.37.
Kate Petitt placed fifth (56.35), followed by Cohen in seventh (56.85).
Lily Rossmann took third in the B Final as she touched in 57.54.
Julia Tuinman led a quartet of Blue Jays that placed in the top seven in the 200 Free. She led the way with a time of 1:52.18 to take bronze.
Alex Watson finished in fifth (1:53.04) while
Melissa Er and Han tied for sixth (1:53.36).
Carly White placed sixth in the B Final with a time of 1:56.91. Rosenthal followed with bronze in the 100 Breast, as she clocked in at 1:05.39. Bak took fourth place in 1:05.71 and
Amy HU placed seventh in 1:06.32.
The Blue Jays then grabbed 89 points from six swimmers in the 100 Back. Lee led the way and won their second individual title with a swim of 56.01. Miler finished in 56.31 to take silver and beat Veerapaneni by just three hundredths of a second. Lan followed in fifth place (56.93) while Zhang placed sixth (57.31). Rossman won the B Final as she clocked in at 57.02.
The championships will conclude on Sunday, February 22, beginning at 8:00 am. Sunday's scheduled was adjusted due to the winter weather slated to hit the area.
Notes: Lee's titles in the 100 Fly and 100 Back are the first for the Blue Jays since 2013 (Taylor Kitayama).
