LANCASTER, PA – The Johns Hopkins men's indoor track & field team captured its 13
th consecutive Centennial Conference Championship on Sunday at Franklin & Marshall. Junior multi-event star
Sebastian Tangelson was named the Men's Field Most Outstanding Performer as the Blue Jays added three gold medals, five silvers and one bronze on the final day of competition.
With all 19 events scored, Hopkins pulled away from the field, totaling 188 points to finish 61 points clear of second-place Ursinus (127). The 61-point margin marks the Blue Jays' largest since 2020, when they won the title by 73.5 points.
The Champions
Sebastian Tangelson | Heptathlon
Tangelson delivered a dominant performance to successfully defend his conference title and earn Most Outstanding Performer honors. The junior scored 4,827 points — the fourth-highest total in program history — becoming the 12
th Hopkins athlete to win the heptathlon. He won five of the seven events, including three on day two: the 60-meter hurdles (8.77), pole vault (3.70m) and 1,000-meter run (2:42.53, PR).
Alexander Williams secured silver with 3,900 points, highlighted by a personal-best 9.43 in the 60-meter hurdles.
Tyler Caswell | 60-meter hurdles
Caswell made history, becoming the first freshman in program history to win the 60-meter hurdles conference title. He crossed the line in a personal-best 8.50, the third-fastest time in school history and the program's first champion in the event since 2020.
Jack Maier added a silver medal with a personal-best 8.61, ranking fourth all-time at Hopkins.
Brady Ott | Mile
After earning bronze in last year's mile, Ott returned with determination and claimed the program's first Centennial Conference title in the event. He won in 4:12.60, while Pe
ter Murray followed with a silver-medal performance in 4:18.37.
Hopkins added three more silver medals on Sunday.
Alex Colletti finished runner-up in both the 60-meter dash (6.89) and the 200-meter dash (21.84), and
Olaf Dietz placed second in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:34.67.
The lone bronze medal of the final day came from senior
Fisayo Omonije, who finished third in the 800-meter run in 1:53.61.
In total, the Blue Jays recorded 23 top-eight finishes on day two to secure the team championship.
Hopkins returns to action Sunday, March 6, at The Armory in New York for the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Championships (AARTFC).
