Rawson Named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week

Junior Midfielder Honored for First Time in Career

ROSEMONT, IL – Johns Hopkins junior midfielder Chuck Rawson has been named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week it was announced today.  Rawson, who earns the award for the first time in his career, helped lead the way offensively in a 14-8 league-opening win against Michigan last Saturday.  This is the third time this season and the 25th time since the league added men's lacrosse in 2015 that a Johns Hopkins player has earned Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors.
 
Against the Wolverines, Rawson totaled a career-high four goals and added one assist to match his personal best with five points.  He scored twice added one assist during a 10-2 Blue Jay run that turned a 1-0 deficit into a 10-3 lead, then stuck back-to-back goals in a span of less than 90 seconds in the fourth quarter after Michigan had pulled within 11-6.
 
Through eight games, Rawson ranks second on the team in assists (11) and third in goals (14) and points (25).  He is also tied for the team lead in extra-man goals (3), leads the team in shooting percentage (.378) and ranks seventh on the team in ground balls (11).
 
Rawson's totals to-date this season boost his career totals to 27 goals and 17 assists for 44 points in 22 games played.  He has three hat tricks, nine multi-goal and 12 multi-point games to his credit in his career.
 
Johns Hopkins (6-2, 1-0 B1G) will return to action on Sunday, March 29 when the Blue Jays travel to Rutgers to take on the Scarlet Knights (7-3, 0-1 B1G).
