Washington University swept the doubles' matches to take the early lead in the match. Samantha Slowik and Lily Brecknock won 6-3 over
Lia Melvin and
Sydney Langer at three doubles. Eleanor Archer and Caitlin Bui then secured the doubles' point with a 6-3 win at one versus
Ava Li and
Kamila Wong. Eliana Hanna and Alley Lin then grabbed a 7-6 win over
Sahana Madala and
Claire Loftus at two.
Isabel He took a quick 6-2, 6-2 win at five singles over Amber Edmonds to tie the match at one. Madala followed with a 6-3, 6-4 win at three over Bui and Hopkins led 2-1. Hanna tied the match again when she won 7-6, 6-3 over Melvin at one. Lin gave the Bears back the lead with a three-setter over Langer at four. Nina Moravek clinched the win with a come-from-behind win over
Aubrey Zhou at six. Archer then won by retirement at two singles to close out the match.
Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, April 4 at Delaware. The match is scheduled for an 11:00 am start.
