BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins men's track and field team wrapped up competition at the Duke Invitational, Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic and Gallaudet Bison Classic on Saturday, recording eight top-10 finishes while posting several marks that rank among the best in program history and across Division III this season.
Oluwademilade Adeniran highlighted Hopkins' performances at the Gallaudet Bison Classic, breaking his own school record in the triple jump. Adeniran won the event with a leap of 14.75 meters, which ranks fifth in Division III this season and extends his program record.
The Blue Jays added six more top-10 finishes at Gallaudet across six events.
Owen Takahashi led the way with two top-10 performances, placing 10
th in the 400-meter dash (52.89) and fifth in the javelin (38.04m).
Aidan Rothstein placed third in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.87 meters, while
Ted Richards finished fifth in the high jump (1.75m).
Sebastian Tangelson added a sixth-place finish in the long jump (6.32m) and
Ryan Zhang rounded out the group with a sixth-place showing in the 110-meter hurdles (16.61).
At the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic,
Connor Oiler turned in one of the top performances of the weekend, placing third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:58.75. His mark ranks third in Division III this season.
In the 5,000-meter invitational,
Olaf Dietz and
Cedar Nichols-Barnhart each posted times that rank among the best in program history and nationally. Dietz finished 13
th in 14:25.08, the fourth-fastest time in school history and 21
st in Division III this season. Nichols-Barnhart followed closely in 14
th with a time of 14:25.55, which ranks fifth in program history and 23
rd nationally.
Nick Pham and
Dane Spahr both recorded top-20 finishes in the 10,000-meter run. Pham placed 17
th in 32:28.08, while Spahr finished 19
th in 32:38.03.
Rowan Cassidy added a strong performance in the 1,500-meter, clocking 3:54.38—good for the 41
st-fastest time in Division III this season.
At the Duke Invitational,
Josh Lee,
Tyler Caswell and the 4x400-meter relay team turned in several of the program's fastest marks of the year.
Caswell posted a personal-best 55.34 in the 400-meter hurdles, ranking sixth in program history and 66
th nationally. Lee added a time of 49.14 in the 400-meter dash, which stands as the sixth-fastest in school history and ranks 98
th nationally.
In the 4x400-meter relay, Lee,
Alex Colletti,
Spencer Ye and
Samson Dessalines combined to run 3:19.76, placing 16
th and recording the eighth-fastest time in program history.
Hopkins returns to action on Friday, April 17, as the Blue Jays split across three meets: the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, NC; the Morgan State Legacy in Baltimore; and the Paul Donahue Invitational, hosted by Widener.
