ROSEMONT, IL – The Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse team produced three of the five major award winners, had four players earn All-Big Ten honors and had one player named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team as the league announced its end-of-season-award recipients today. The four All-Big Ten selections match the program record set six times previously, while the three major award recipients match the program record set in the inaugural year of Big Ten men's lacrosse play in 2015.
In addition to the above, senior defenseman
Carson Brown also earned a spot on the Big Ten All-Sportsmanship Team.
Headlining the Blue Jay haul was
Peter Milliman, who was named the Big Ten Coach of the Year for the second time (2024) in his six-year tenure at Homewood. Milliman has guided the Blue Jays to an 8-4 record and a share of the Big Ten regular season title. The Blue Jays are the top seed in the upcoming Big Ten Tournament and are currently ranked seventh in the nation in all three major polls (USILA, Inside Lacrosse, Lacrosse Magazine). Johns Hopkins is the highest-ranked Big Ten team and also checks in at number six in the NCAA's official RPI rankings, five spots higher than any other team in the Big Ten.
Senior midfielder
Matt Collison was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and was also a unanimous First Team All-Big Ten selection. Collison currently leads the Blue Jays in scoring with 36 points on 24 goals and 12 assists; he ranks second on the team in goals and third in assists and leads the Big Ten in points and goals among midfielders. He was one of just two players – and the only offensive player – to be a unanimous first team selection. He is the second Johns Hopkins player to earn Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year honors (
Ryan Brown | 2015).
Senior goalie
Oran Gelinas becomes the first Johns Hopkins player to be named the Big Ten Specialist of the Year and he joins Collison as a First Team All-Big Ten selection. On the year, Gelinas sports a 9.00 goals against average and a .590 save percentage. He leads the Big Ten and ranks fourth nationally in save percentage and ranks third in the Big Ten and 10th in the nation in goals against average. Gelinas becomes Hopkins' second First Team All-Big Ten selection as a goalie (
Chayse Ierlan | 2024).
In addition to his spot on the All-Sportsmanship Team, Brown also earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors. A starter in all 12 games, Brown counts 32 ground balls and nine caused turnovers to his credit while routinely drawing the opposition's top attackman. He ranks third on the team in ground balls and is tied for third in caused turnovers. This is Brown's first appearance on the All-Big Ten Team and he becomes the 10
th Blue Jay defenseman to earn All-Big Ten honors since the league added men's lacrosse in 2015.
Junior attackman
Hunter Chauvette rounds out Johns Hopkins' All-Big Ten selections as he was named to the second team. Chauvette currently leads the team in goals (30) and ranks second in points (33) entering the Big Ten Tournament. His 30 goals, which are a career high, rank second in the league and his 2.5 goals per game are tied for second. He counts seven multi-goal games and five hat tricks to his credit this season and he is the 17
th Johns Hopkins attackman to earn All-Big Ten honors.
Parker Sorenson becomes the second Johns Hopkins player to earn Big Ten All-Freshman honors as he joins
Reece DiCicco (2025) as Blue Jays to named to the All-Freshman Team. Sorenson has played in all 12 games on the year and counts two goals, 14 ground balls and one caused turnover to his credit. He started the first four games of the season on close defense before sliding into a spot as a long stick midfielder. The Big Ten first selected the All-Freshman Team in 2025.
Johns Hopkins will play the winner of the game between Michigan and Ohio State in the Big Ten Semifinals on April 30 at Rutgers (3 pm | BTN).
