FAIRFAX, VA – The Johns Hopkins men's track and field team opened competition at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational on Friday, hosted by George Mason University, recording seven top-25 finishes across six events while posting several marks that rank among the best in program history and Division III this season.
Ryan Braga led the Blue Jays in the field with one of the top hammer throw marks in program history. The junior placed 11
th overall with a personal-best throw of 47.30 meters, which ranks second all-time at Hopkins.
Alexander Yeon also competed in the event, placing 22
nd with a throw of 35.23 meters.
Aidan Rothstein turned in the team's highest finish of the day, placing seventh in the pole vault after clearing 4.00 meters.
On the track,
Fisayo Omonije and
Shrey Chettiar paced Hopkins in the 800 meters with a pair of top-25 finishes. Omonije placed 18
th in 1:52.24, the seventh-fastest time in Division III this season, while Chettiar clocked a personal-best 1:52.56—ranking ninth nationally and fourth in program history.
Jack Maier added a top-25 finish in the 400-meter hurdles, placing 24
th with a time of 58.74. In the 200 meters,
Josh Lee recorded a personal-best 22.31, which ranks ninth in school history.
Lance Nicholls closed out the day for the Blue Jays with a 10
th-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, posting a time of 9:45.66 (63
rd nationally).
Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, April 4, to conclude competition at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational.
