FAIRFAX, VA – The Johns Hopkins women's track and field team wrapped up competition at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational on Saturday, hosted by George Mason University, recording five top-10 finishes across 10 events while posting several marks that rank among the program's all-time best and within Division III this season.
Erika Ezumba once again highlighted Hopkins' second day with a record-setting performance in the shot put. The senior launched a personal-best throw of 13.65 meters to place fifth overall, setting a new school record while ranking eighth in Division III this season.
Phoebe Williams added an 11.70-meter throw, which ranks 96
th nationally and 10
th all-time in program history.
On the track,
Diana Valentini turned in one of the top performances of the meet in the 1,500 meters. She clocked a personal-best 4:30.22 to place fifth overall and was the fastest Division III runner in the field. Her time currently ranks seventh nationally. In the same event,
Aisling Callahan posted a 4:41.89 (48
th nationally), while
Emily Roskowski recorded a personal-best 4:44.17 (70
th nationally).
The 4x100-meter relay team of
Mirra Klimov,
Chloe Zhang,
Ellie Lewis and
Anna Zinsser delivered a highlight performance, finishing in 47.63. That time ranks 10
th in Division III this season and stands as the second-fastest in program history.
In the 400-meter dash,
Gabrielle Moore led a trio of Blue Jays to some of the fastest times in school history. Moore placed 11
th overall with a personal-best 56.93, which ranks 19
th nationally and is the second-fastest time in program history.
Lianne Saussy followed with a personal-best 58.08 (44
th nationally), the seventh-fastest in program history, while
Madison Moore clocked a personal-best 58.12 (46
th nationally), good for eighth all-time.
Klimov paced a strong showing in the 100-meter dash, placing 19
th overall with a 12.10—the 13
th-fastest time in Division III this season. Lewis followed with a 12.24, which ranks 34
th nationally and fourth all-time at Hopkins, while Zhang recorded a 12.25 (37
th nationally), the fifth-fastest in program history.
Claudia Ouimet rounded out the group with a personal-best 12.44, ranking 75
th nationally and 10
th all-time.
The 4x400-meter relay team of
Gabrielle Moore, Ouimet,
Ani Wedemeyer and
Lorna Arcese placed seventh overall with a time of 3:53.37, the 10
th-fastest in program history.
Ouimet added her name to the record book for the third time in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking a 14.85 to finish 25
th overall. Her time ranks 20
th nationally this season and third all-time in program history.
Clarissa Newman and Williams rounded out Hopkins' top-10 finishes. Newman placed fourth in the pole vault with a 3.45-meter clearance, while Williams finished 10
th in the javelin with a throw of 33.93 meters.
Hopkins returns to action on Friday, April 10, when the Blue Jays split their squad between the Duke Invitational in Durham, NC, and the Bison Outdoor Classic in Lewisburg, PA, hosted by Bucknell.
