Oran Gelinas has been named the Big Ten Specialist of the Week, while Blue Jay attackman
Hunter Chauvette was tabbed the league's Offensive Player of the Week for the second time it was announced today. Collectively, Johns Hopkins has now produced nine Big Ten Player of the Week selections during the 2026 season.
Gelinas, who earns Specialist of the Week honors for the second consecutive week, totaled 11 saves and added three ground balls and one caused turnover in the win against the Nittany Lions. He posted 10 of his 11 saves in the second half while allowing just three goals in the final 30 minutes.
Chauvette punched up his fifth hat trick of the season and the 11
th of his career to lead the way offensively in the win against Penn State. All three of his goals came during a seven-goal Blue Jay run in the second half that turned a 9-4 deficit into an 11-9 Johns Hopkins lead. His three goals came in a 16-minute span that bridged the third and fourth quarters.
On the year, Gelinas now sports a 9.48 goals against average and a .571 save percentage. He leads the Big Ten and ranks fifth nationally in save percentage and ranks fourth in the Big Ten and 16
th in the nation in goals against average.
Chauvette's three goals push his team-leading total to 28 while he also ranks second on the team in points (30). He currently leads the Big Ten and is tied for 23
rd in the nation in goals per game (2.8).
Johns Hopkins (7-3, 2-1 B1G) will return to action on Saturday, April 1 when the Blue Jays travel to Ohio State to take on the Buckeyes (8-3, 1-2 B1G). The game will air on BTN+ (12 pm).
