BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins will host an NCAA Regional this weekend at the JHU Tennis Courts. The Blue Jays are making their 19
th straight NCAA Tournament appearance and earned a first round bye. Hopkins (12-6) will take on the winner of Rensselaer (12-6) and Allegheny (16-6) in the second round.
Johns Hopkins Regional
In addition to Rensselaer and Allegheny, Johns Hopkins will host Carnegie Mellon (16-7), St. Mary's (14-4), Case Western Reserve (12-6) and Albright (14-4). Also on Friday, Carnegie Mellon will take on St. Mary's and Case Western Reserve will face Albright. The winner of CMU-SMC will face the winner of CWRU and AC on Saturday. Saturday's winners will meet in the regional final on Sunday.
JHU's Tournament History
The Blue Jays have made every NCAA Tournament since 2007 and are 31-19 all-time in the tournament. Hopkins has earned a first round bye 13 times and has won its opening match in all 18 appearances. JHU has made seven NCAA Quarterfinal appearances and two in the semifinals.
Series History
Hopkins and Allegheny have met one time previously (1997), with the Gators winning that match-up. JHU and Carnegie Mellon have faced off 22 times, including earlier this season, and the Tartans lead the series, 13-9. JHU and CWRU have met twice and the Blue Jays are 2-0. Hopkins has never faced Albright or Rensselaer.
What's Next
The winner of the Johns Hopkins Regional will take on the winner of the Washington University Regional, which also includes Hope, Ohio Northern, Kenyon, Rose-Hulman, Grinnell and Wheaton (IL) on Monday, May 18. The NCAA Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Championship will take place at Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, TN. JHU has advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals seven times (2012, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2023, 2024, 2025) with two semifinals appearances (2014, 2025).
