Tenney, Tangelson, Coaching Staff Headline Centennial All-Conference Awards

LANCASTER, PA – Following its ninth Centennial Conference Outdoor Championship, the Johns Hopkins men's track & field team earned a number of postseason honors, highlighted by Caleb Tenney and Sebastian Tangelson capturing two of the conference's major individual awards. Tenney was named Rookie of the Year, while Tangelson earned Field Athlete of the Year honors. Bobby Van Allen and his staff were also recognized as the Centennial Conference Coaching Staff of the Year for the second straight season.

Tenney collected Rookie of the Year honors after an outstanding freshman campaign that included a Centennial Conference title in the 1,500 meters. His winning time of 3:47.61 was nearly five seconds faster than the runner-up and made him just the second Blue Jay to capture the event title at the conference championship meet. Earlier in the season, Tenney opened his collegiate outdoor career with a school-record performance of 3:47.42 at the Raleigh Relays. That mark currently ranks 11th in Division III and stands as the fastest time by a freshman in the nation this season.

Tangelson earned Field Athlete of the Year recognition after contributing 7.5 points to the Blue Jays' championship effort across three events. The junior posted a personal-best time of 15.64 in the 110-meter hurdles to finish fourth and score five points for Hopkins. He also placed seventh in the high jump with a clearance of 1.73 meters and added another point with an eighth-place finish in the pole vault after clearing 3.65 meters.

After leading Johns Hopkins to its ninth outdoor conference title — and second consecutive championship — Van Allen and his staff were named the Centennial Conference Coaching Staff of the Year.

In total, the Blue Jays earned five First Team All-Conference selections. Joining Tenney (1500) on the First Team were Henry Zhe-Heimerman (steeplechase), Emmanuel Leblond (5000), Oluwademilade Adeniran (triple jump) and Alexander Williams (decathlon).

Johns Hopkins also collected 10 Second Team All-Conference honors. Tyler Caswell (110H, 400H), Fisayo Omonije (800), Olaf Dietz (5000), Nash Minor (10,000), Samson Dessalines, Rowan Cassidy, Connor Oiler and Peter Murray (4x800) and Owen Takahashi (decathlon) all earned second-team recognition.

Rounding out the Blue Jays' All-Conference honorees were Jack Maier (110H), Ani Krishnan (1500), Lance Nicholls (steeplechase) and Brady Ott (5000), who each received Honorable Mention accolades. Alex Colletti was also named Johns Hopkins' representative on the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team.
