Blue Jays Sweep Gettysburg In Men's Tennis, 7-0

April 25, 2002

Baltimore, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's tennis team won all six singles matches and all three doubles matches to shut out Gettysburg, 7-0, Monday in Centennial Conference action.

Junior Kevin Alford (O'Fallon Township, IL/O'Fallon Township) defeated Jason Fransen 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, while senior Sion Roy (Chandler, AZ/Brophy College Prep) topped Mike Kraus by the same score at No. 2. Sophomore Justin Chan (Mountain Lakes, NJ/Mountain Lakes) topped Karan Minotra 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3, and senior Ashish Lall (Buffalo, NY/Nichols) defeated Jake Wright 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4.

Sophomore Grant Roch (Cedarburg, WI/Cedarburg) defeated Andrew Smith 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5, and freshman Justin Belisario (Los Angeles, CA/Loyola) bested Foster Post 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6.

Alford and Belisario defeated Fransen and Kraus 8-3 at No. 1 doubles, while Roy and Chan topped Post and Smith 8-3 at No. 2. Senior Erhan Bedestani (Hamilton, NJ/Lawrenceville Prep) teamed up with Lall to defeat Minotra and Wright 8-3 at No. 3.
