Carlisle, PA - The Johns Hopkins men's tennis team improved to 3-2 overall and 3-1 in the Centennial Conference with a 5-2 win at Dickinson College Saturday afternoon. The Red Devils fell to 5-5 overall and 2-2 in the conference with the loss.

Junior Kevin Alford (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon Township) and freshman Justin Belisario (Los Angeles, CA/Loyola) opened the match with an 8-4 win over Greg Gull and Matt Anderson in No. 1 doubles. Greg Bertelsen and Aaron Sussman topped sophomore Justin Chan (Mountain Lakes, NJ/Mountain Lakes) and senior Sion Roy (Chandler, AZ/Brophy College Prep) 8-1 in the No. 2 doubles, but senior Ashish Lall (Buffalo, NY/Nichols) and senior Erhan Bedestani (Hamilton, NJ/Lawrenceville Prep) gave Hopkins the doubles point with an 8-4 victory over Dickinson's Chris Magel and Chris Beegle at No. 3.

Alford began singles action with an easy 6-2, 6-2 win over Gull at No. 1, and Lall followed with a 6-4, 6-2 decision over Ian Richman at No. 4. Roy then fell to Bertelsen 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2, but Belisario assured the Blue Jays of the win with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Zack Beck-Goss.

Chan went on to defeat Magel in three sets 4-6, 6-4, 6-0, while sophomore Grant Roch (Cedarburg, WI/Cedarburg) lost a tough 7-5, 6-7 (3), (10-8) decision to Beegle in the final match of the day.

The Blue Jays will play their home opener Tuesday when they host Salisbury at 3 p.m.
