Baltimore, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's tennis team improved to 6-4 overall and 5-2 in the Centennial Conference with a 6-1 win over McDaniel Tuesday afternoon. The Green Terror fall to 1-5 overall and 1-4 in league play.
Senior Kevin Alford (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon Township) shut out Scott Mahoney 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while sophomore Justin Belisario (Los Angeles, CA/Loyola) blanked Craig Johnson 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3. Krisna Potarazu defeated Mat Wolfe 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4, while junior Grant Roch (Cedarburg, WI/Cedarburg) and freshman Michael Kelly-Sell (Ann Arbor, MI/Ann Arbor Pioneer) won by default at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
Aaron Taylor picked up the only singles win for McDaniel by defeating junior Justin Chan (Mountain Lakes, NJ/Mountain Lakes) 6-2, 7-6 (5) at No. 2.
Alford and Belisario topped Mahoney and Taylor 8-1 at No. 1 doubles, while Chan and Potarazu defeated Johnson and Wolfe 8-2 at No. 2. Kelly-Sell and Roch won at No. 3 by default.
The Blue Jays travel to Salisbury Thursday for a 3:30 match with the Sea Gulls in their final road contest of the season.
