Baltimore, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's tennis team concluded their regular season with a 6-1 win over Franklin & Marshall Tuesday afternoon. The Blue Jays improved to 7-5 overall and 6-2 in the Centennial Conference, while the Diplomats fell to 5-11 overall and 3-5 in the league.
Senior Kevin Alford (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon Township) defeated Alex Levy 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, while sophomore Justin Belisario (Los Angeles, CA/Loyola) posted a 7-6 (3), 6-3 victory over Andrew Mayer at No. 3. Krisna Potarazu topped Dan Lindenberg 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4, junior Grant Roch (Cedarburg, WI/Cedarburg) edged Bryan Pilkington 7-5, 6-1 at No. 5, and freshman Michael Kelly-Sell (Ann Arbor, MI/Ann Arbor Pioneer) defeated Jimmy Yen 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6.
Alex Chester picked up the Diplomats' point by defeating junior Justin Chan (Mountain Lakes, NJ/Mountain Lakes) 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2.
Alford and Belisario topped Chester and Lindenberg 8-3 at No. 1 doubles, while Chan and Potarazu defeated Mayer and Pilkington 8-4 at No. 2. Kelly-Sell and Roch completed the doubles sweep for the Blue Jays as they bested Yen and Charlie Alston 8-1 at No. 3.
Hopkins will compete in the Centennial Conference Individual Championships this Friday through Sunday in Haverford, PA.
