SWARTHMORE, PA -- The Johns Hopkins men's soccer team battled to a 0-0 tie with Centennial front-runner Swarthmore Saturday night. The Blue Jays set a school record with their fourth tie of the year and the game marked the sixth time this season the Blue Jays have played into overtime (JHU is 1-1 in the two overtime games that haven't ended in a tie).

The Blue Jays dominated play in the first half, outshooting the Garnet 10-3, but couldn't solve Swarthmore goalie Reuben Heyman-Kantor, who posted two of his five saves in the first 45 minutes.

The second half was the opposite of the first as Swarthmore held an 8-2 advantage in shots and took all three corner kicks in the half, but JHU's Dan Coble picked up three of his four saves in the second 45-minute period to force overtime.

The Blue Jays ripped four of the five shots in the two, 10-minute overtime periods, but Heyman-Kantor posted three saves - all in the second overtime - to force the tie.

Johns Hopkins, with the unusul 7-2-4 overall record and a 1-1-3 mark in Centennial play, will return to action on Wednesday when the Blue Jays host Haverford in a crucial Centennial Conference matchup. Hopkins will likely need to win at least three of its four remaining Centennial Conference games to qualify for the Centennial Conference playoffs in early November. The Blue Jays have qualified for every Centennial Tournament since the league went to the post-season format in 2001 and won the tournament in 2002 and 2004.
