HAVERFORD, PA - The Johns Hopkins men's tennis team improved to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in the Centennial Conference after shutting out Haverford 5-0 last night. Chanont Vasoontara led the Blue Jays with wins in first singles and first doubles, while the #2 and #6 singles matches did not finish due to darkness.
Vasoontara won in first singles 6-2, 6-4 and combined with Matt Naftilan for a 9-7 win in first doubles. Justin Belisario and Nick Kennedy won 8-4 in second doubles, as did Kevin Ma and Rafael Roberti in third doubles.
Ma won 6-3, 6-1 at third singles, Naftilan won 6-1, 6-4 at fourth and Belisario won 6-2, 6-3 at fifth. Roberti led 6-4, 5-5 at second singles while Michael Kelly-Sell was tied 6-3, 4-6 at sixth singles before the match was called.
Johns Hopkins lost to Haverford 5-2 last season. The Blue Jays host Washington College today at 2:30 p.m.
