WILMINGTON, OH -- Johns Hopkins freshman Laura Paulsen placed 52nd overall and second among all freshmen at the 2006 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships. Paulsen's 52nd-place finish came in a field of 279 runners.
Paulsen clocked in at 24:11 and was the second Centennial Conference entrant to finish. Middlebury totaled 144 points to edge Amherst (145) for the team title. Centennial Conference team entries included Dickinson (6th) and Haverford (24th).
Paulsen enjoyed a spectacular freshman season that included runner-up finishes at both the Centennial Conference Championships and the NCAA Division III Mid-East Regional Championships. Paulsen guided the Blue Jays to a third-place finish at the Centennial Conference Championships and a fifth-place finish at the regional championships.
The Blue Jays will welcome back their top seven runners next season as they look for their first-ever Centennial Conference title under head coach Bobby Van Allen.
