CARLISLE, PA -- The Johns Hopkins men's tennis team locked up the number three seed in the upcoming Centennial Conference Tournament with a 7-0 win at Dickinson Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays improve to 11-6 overall and 7-2 in the Centennial and will meet second-seeded Haverford in one semifinal match next weekend at top-seed Washington College. Haverford knocked off the Blue Jays, 5-1, earlier this season.
The Blue Jays made quick work of the Red Devils as they won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. Chanont Vasoontara and Hillen Smith won at first and second singles (dropping a total of just four games along the way), respectively, and combined for an 8-1 win at first doubles. Sophomore Kevin Ma's 6-3, 3-6, 10-5 win at third singles was the only match that was extended beyond two sets.
Johns Hopkins will close the Centennial portion of its schedule on Sunday when the Blue Jays host Muhlenberg. The regular-season finale is at Mary Washington on Thursday (April 27).
