Three Blue Jays Earn ITA All-America Honors; JHU Ranked 8th in Final Poll

BALTIMORE, MD – Three Blue Jays earned All-America honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) it was announced today. Senior Allen Gong earned the honor in singles while Mukundh Boopathi and Joshua Kim did so in doubles. In addition, Hopkins is ranked eighth in the final national poll.
 
The Blue Jays went 16-7 on the season and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16. This is the second straight year Hopkins finished the season ranked in the top 10 in the nation. Hopkins had an All-American singles player for the fifth time in the last six seasons. In addition, Boopathi and Kim are the third doubles' team to earn All-America honors in the last four seasons. JHU has now produced 22 All-Americans in singles and 27 in doubles.
 
Gong earned a spot in the NCAA Singles Championship and finished with a career-best 21 wins this season. He is ranked 18th in the nation in singles, a career best. He is tied for ninth in school history with 58 career singles' wins. This is Gong's second All-America honor after earning doubles' accolades last season.  
 
Boopathi and Kim earned All-America honors after winning the ITA Southeast Doubles Championship. The pair went 9-7 this season. Boopathi finished the season with 16 total doubles' wins, while Kim tallied nine.
