BALTIMORE, MD -- With the number three seed in the upcoming Centennial Conference Tournament already in hand, the Johns Hopkins men's tennis team closed regular season Centennial action with a convincing 7-0 win over visiting Muhlenberg Sunday afternoon. The win improves the Blue Jays' record to 12-6 overall and 8-2 in the Centennial. Hopkins will face Haverford in the Centennial Semifinals next weekend.
Hopkins took 2-of-3 doubles matches to earn the team point as Lawrence Wei and Raffie Roberti took an 8-3 decision over Mike DeVita and Tim Ness in the number two slot, while Matt Naftilan and Jeff Yu eased past Andrew Brick and Ryan Paskin, 8-1.
The singles matches were all straight-set victories for the Blue Jays with Justin Lee's 6-4, 7-6 (5) hard-fought win over Adam Nodiff at number one singles the only competitive match. Chanont Vasoontara, Hillen Smith, Kevin Ma, Mike Kelly-Sell and Roberti combined to win the other five singles matches while dropping a total of just five games to fuel the victory.
Johns Hopkins will close the regular season with a non-conference match against Mary Washington April 27.
