#15 Johns Hopkins Sweeps Dickinson, 9-0

BALTIMORE, MD - The #15 Johns Hopkins men's tennis team swept visiting Dickinson on Saturday afternoon, 9-0. The win improves the Blue Jays record to 12-5 overall and 8-0 in the Centennial Conference. Hopkins is now just one win shy of its second consecutive unbeaten conference season. The Red Devils slip to 10-7 overall and 5-4 in the Centennial.

At first doubles, freshman Casey Blythe (Louisville, KY/Saint Xavier) and senior Joe Vasoontara (Bangkok, Thailand/Loomis Chaffee) won their seventh straight match, blanking Ross Anstaett and Hunter Holbrook 8-0. Seniors Rafael Roberti (Summit, NJ/Summit) and Matt Naftilan (Nashville, TN/Montgomery Bell Academy) also pitched the shutout, beating Trevor Heck and Toni Bujos 8-0. And at second, sophomore David Maldow (Jericho, NY/Jericho Senior) and freshman Andrew Wang (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) won their seventh straight with an 8-4 win over Pavel Hejsek and Matt Wood.

In singles play, the Blue Jays swept all six matches in straight sets to take the match. Maldow beat Anstaett 6-4, 6-1 at first for his 22nd win of the season. Vasoontara then dropped just two games in beating Holbrook at second. Wang picked up his 16th win of the season after losing just one game at third over Bujos. At fourth, Blythe beat Heck 6-3, 6-2 for his 18th win. Sophomore Peter Vale (Haverford, PA/Episcopal Academy) remained unbeaten in the Centennial at 5-0 with a 6-3, 6-1 win at fifth over Hejsek. And at sixth, Roberti won his sixth straight in beating Rich Rosenthal 6-2, 6-1.

Hopkins wraps up the regular season on Sunday afternoon when it visits Swarthmore. The Centennial Conference match is set to begin at 1:00 pm. The Blue Jays can claim home court advantage in next weekend's Centennial Conference Championship with a win over the Garnet.
