Eastern Connecticut Overcomes Blue Jays, 9-3

PHOENIX, AZ - Leading 3-1 after four innings, the Johns Hopkins baseball team couldn't hold on as Eastern Connecticut State defeated JHU, 9-3, on Friday in the RussMatt Invitational. The Blue Jays slip to 6-7 on the season.

Lee Bolyard hit a two-run homer in the second to score Dave Kahn and John Swarr as Johns Hopkins took a 2-0 lead.

Dave Kahn collected an RBI on his single down the left field line, scoring Ryan Biner in the bottom of the third. The Blue Jays led 3-1 after four innings.

Eastern Connecticut State would score a pair of runs in the fifth before plating three in the sixth inning, gaining a 6-3 advantage. Eastern Connecticut rallied off three hits each in the fifth and sixth innings.

Hopkins would not score again, but gave up two runs in the seventh before surrendering its final run in the eighth inning.

The Blue Jays face Wisconsin-Lacrosse in their final game in Phoenix, AZ on Saturday.
