Hopkins Continues to Dominate with 13-2 Win

LITTLE FALLS, NJ - The Johns Hopkins baseball team extended its winning streak to 24 games with a 13-2 victory over host Montclair State. Jesse Sikorski (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers Academy) had the monster-blow of the game with a grand slam in the fourth inning. With the win, Hopkins improves to 31-3 while Montclair State falls to 16-10.

Brian Youchak scored three runs on two hits. Youchak is now the all-time career leader in runs scored with 173. John Swarr (Radnor, PA/Conestoga) and James Teta (Centereach, NY/Sachem) each had two hits in the game as well.

Alex Eliopoulos (Arlington, VA/The Heights School) earned the win for Hopkins by pitching six innings and allowing two runs on six hits. Eliopoulos had 10 strikeouts in the game.

Matthew Moreno had two hits for the Red Hawks and Sean Hille was the losing pitcher. Hille allowed six runs, five earned, on seven hits.

The Blue Jays scored two runs both the first and third innings. Youchak had an RBI double in the first inning.

Hopkins blew the game open in the fourth inning. Dave Kahn (New Hyde Park/Herricks), who scored three times in the game, was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score one run before Sikorski launched a ball over the right field fence so plate four runs. Swarr then doubled to centerfield and scored on a RBI single by Lee Bolyard (Burke, VA/Lake Braddock), who had two RBIs in the game.

Montclair scored both their runs in the fifth on a two-RBI single by Scott Evangelist.

Hopkins scored solo runs in the seventh and eighth innings. Joe Hemmes (Staten Island, NY/Poly Prep) had an RBI triple in the eighth.

The Blue Jays compiled 16 hits and committed one error while the Red Hawks had seven hits and two errors.

Hopkins returns to action on April 23 when they host Stevenson. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
