BALTIMORE, MD - The Blue Jays increased their winning streak to 25 games with a 14-1 win over visiting Stevenson in non-conference action. Dave Kahn (New Hyde Park/Herricks) led the Blue Jays with two home runs, three RBIs and three runs scored for the Blue Jays. With the win, the Blue Jays improve to 32-3 while the Mustangs fall to 18-17.
Lee Bolyard (Burke, VA/Lake Braddock) went 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBIs for Hopkins. Sam Wernick (Dallas, TX/Dallas Jesuit College Prep) and Brian Youchak (Pittsburgh, PA/Vincentian Academy) each had two hits.
The Blue Jays jumped out to a 2-0 in the first inning. The first three batters loaded the bases followed by back-to-back RBI groundouts.
Youchak and Kahn went back-to-back in the third as both hit home runs over the right field fence.
The Mustangs got on the board in the fourth. They loaded the bases with nobody out but were only able to push one run across on an RBI groundout. Hopkins held a 5-1 lead after five complete.
John Swarr (Radnor, PA/Conestoga) launched a solo home run to left to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning. The Blue Jays then added eight runs in the eighth inning. Kahn hit his second home run of the game and Bolyard blasted a three-run home run in the inning. Mike Aspegren (Newport Beach, CA/Santa Margarita) also had an RBI double and Ryan Zakszeski (Gilbertsville, PA/Boyertown) had a two-RBI single.
Sam Eagleson (Reading, PA/Governor Mifflin) earned his ninth win of the season by pitching eight innings and allowing just one run on three hits. Eagleson had eight strikeouts in the game.
Brian Spinazzola took the loss for the Mustangs, allowing five runs on six hits in just three innings pitched. He hit five Blue Jay batters in the game.
Hopkins had 13 hits and played errorless defense while Stevenson had three hits and three errors.
The blue Jays return to action tomorrow when they host Haverford in the last regular season Centennial Conference games of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 12:30 pm.
