CARLISLE, PA - The Johns Hopkins women's soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 decision on Tuesday afternoon at Dickinson in Centennial Conference action. The loss snaps the Blue Jays' six-game winning streak and drops them to 8-2 (2-1 CC), while the Red Devils improve to 5-2-1 (2-1 CC).
Dickinson scored the lone goal of the game in the 35th minute when senior Ashley Kunkle headed home her second goal of the season off a cross from freshman Rosalin Savoie. Savoie played a corner kick into the box, which Hopkins cleared directly back to Savoie. Savoie then re-served the ball into the box and found the head of Kunkle, who gave the Red Devils a 1-0 lead that they would not relinquish.
Hopkins held the advantage in shots (29-12) and corner kicks (9-6) and outshot Dickinson 20-4 in the second stanza, but were unable to capitalize.
Sophomore goalkeeper Meredith Maguire recorded two saves in 90:00 minutes of action, while Dickinson goalkeeper Annie Weichart tallied 12 saves in the win.
The Blue Jays return home on Friday, October 1 to host Haverford in Centennial Conference action at 7 pm.
