Johns Hopkins Downs Dickinson, 3-1

CARLISLE, PA - The Johns Hopkins field hockey team scored three goals in a 13-minute span to top host Dickinson, 3-1, on Wednesday afternoon. The Blue Jays win their third straight and improve to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in the Centennial. The Red Devils slip to 1-7 and 0-2 in the conference.

Junior Carly Bianco (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) got the Blue Jays on the board first, scoring her team-best fifth goal of the season at 15:04. Just over a minute later, sophomore Meghan Kellett (Audubon, PA/Villa Maria Academy) to push Hopkins lead to two at 16:25. With just under seven minutes to play in the half, senior Sarah Jacobs (Denver, CO/Kent Denver) scored off an assist of classmate Jennifer Motylinski (Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) to stake Hopkins to a 3-0 lead. Katie Mersky got one back for Dickinson when she scored at the end of the first half.

Junior goalie Kim Stein (New Hyde Park, NY/New Hyde Park Memorial) made seven saves, all in the first half, to earn the win. For the Red Devils, Katy Schlechtweg finished with eight saves in the loss. Hopkins held the edge in shots, 27-13, and corners, 13-9.

Hopkins puts it win streak on the line on Saturday, October 2 as Haverford visits Homewood Field. The Centennial Conference match-up is slated for a 5:30 pm start.
