Looking Back: The No. 5 Johns Hopkins baseball team won its 16th consecutive game Tuesday with an 11-2 defeat of McDaniel in Westminster, MD. Hopkins improved its record to 22-2 (7-0 CC), as Jeff Lynch and Ryan Zakszeski combined for nine hits and seven RBIs. Freshman Colin Friedman allowed just two runs in eight innings of work.
Weekend Preview: Hopkins finishes its season series against McDaniel on Friday at the JHU Baseball Diamond, before traveling to Swarthmore Saturday for a critical conference double-header. The Garnet (6-1 CC) are just one game behind the Jays in the Centennial standings.

Moving on up: Johns Hopkins moved up to fifth in the latest ABCA and D3baseball.com polls -- the program's highest ranking since 2010.
Magnificent Pitching: The Hopkins pitching staff has been tremendous thus far in 2013. As a whole, the Jays pitchers rank in the top-15 nationally in hits/9 (7.41), ERA (2.67) and WHIP (1.20). Blue Jay starters are a combined 17-2, while relievers have allowed just 18 earned runs in 68 innings of work.
En Fuego: Lynch has tallied an RBI in 10 of his last 11 games, totaling 22 during that span (2.0/g). He also has multi-hit games in five consecutive contests. Lynch is 8-for-9 with six RBIs in the last two games, pushing his batting average to an incredible .440.
Closing in on 1,000: Head Coach Bob Babb is quickly inching towards the 1,000-win plateau, and currently sits at 976 career victories. There is an outside chance that Babb could achieve the feat in 2013. Entering the season, Babb was tied for third among active DIII coaches in winning percentage (.734) and fifth in wins (953).
