Johns Hopkins Blanks McDaniel, 9-0

WESTMINSTER, MD - The eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins men's tennis team shut out host McDaniel, 9-0, on Wednesday afternoon in Centennial Conference action. The Blue Jays, who lost just nine games in the win, improve to 13-2 overall and 7-0 in the conference. The Green Terror fall to 2-13 overall and 0-7 in the conference.

Hopkins jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the match with a sweep of three doubles matches. Seniors Andy Hersh and Jeff Kamei lost just one game in an 8-1 win at first over Brian Kron and Seth McFall. At second, sophomores Tanner Brown and Edward Corty beat Tom Orrok and Ryan Salomon, 8-0. Freshman Chris Jou and junior Joonas Karjalainen won by the same score at third over Tyler Justice and Bennett Daniels.

Brown needed only 12 games to defeat Kron at first with a 6-0, 6-0 win. Hersh won at second, defeating McFall 6-0, 6-2. Corty won by the same score over Daniel Xinis at third, while Kamei beat Orrok 6-2, 6-2 at fourth. Karjalainen did lose a game in his win at fifth over Matthew Langsdale and sophomore Noah Joachim turned the same trick at sixth with his win over Luke Schmidt.

Hopkins is back in action on Saturday, April 20 with a pair of home matches. Hopkins will face Muhlenberg in conference action at 10:00 am. The Blue Jays will then take on the 25th-ranked Mary Washington Eagles at 2:00 pm.
