LANCASTER, PA - The eight-time champion Johns Hopkins men's tennis team has placed six players on the 2013 All-Centennial Conference teams as announced by the conference office this morning. The Blue Jays had four players earn all-conference honors in singles and a pair of doubles teams were honored as well. Hopkins has now produced 38 All-CC Singles selections and 40 doubles selections since the conference's inception in 1994.
Senior Andy Hersh and sophomore Tanner Brown earned First Team All-CC honors for singles, while sophomores Ben Hwang and Erik Lim grabbed second team singles honors. Earning First Team All-CC accolades in doubles were Brown, Lim, sophomore Noah Joachim and freshman Nicholas Garcia.
Hersh, the 2012 Centennial Conference Player of the Year, earned First Team All-CC honors in singles for the third straight season and earns all-conference honors in singles for the fourth time. He is just the third player in program history to earn All-CC honors in singles four times. Hersh is has a team-best 21 singles wins this season and is 21-8 with a 13-match win streak. A two-time All-American, he is the program's all-time singles leader with 84 career singles wins. He is ranked fifth in the Atlantic South in singles and is the two-time ITA Southeast Singles champion.
Brown earned first team honors for singles for the second straight season and grabbed honors in doubles for the first time. He is 15-3 in singles so far this season and ranked third in the Atlantic South. A 2012 All-American in singles, Brown ranks 11th in program history with 37 career wins (37-9 record). He is also 17-7 in doubles this season and 32-15 for his career. Brown and Lim won the 2012 ITA Southeast Doubles title in October to earn All-America honors and are ranked sixth in the region. Lim takes home his first career All-Centennial honor this season and is 17-7 this season and 29-16 for his career. He also boasts a 15-3 record in singles this season and is 32-7 for his career.
Joachim and Garcia earn All-Centennial honors for the first time, and Garcia becomes just the sixth freshman to earn First Team All-CC honors in doubles. The pair is 8-6 together in doubles, while Joachim is 9-7 overall and Garcia is 10-6. Hwang repeats as a Second Team All-CC selection in singles, he posts a 14-4 record and is ranked 14th in the region. For his career, he is 28-9 in singles.
