BALTIMORE, MD - The ninth-ranked Johns Hopkins men's tennis team will travel to Middlebury, VT for the 2012 NCAA Tennis Regional at Middlebury College May 10-12. The Blue Jays (19-2) earned the Centennial Conference's automatic qualifier after winning their seventh straight conference title on Sunday. Hopkins earned a first-round bye for the sixth consecutive year and is participating in the NCAA Tournament for the eighth straight year.

Hopkins will face the winner of Friday's first round match between Vassar (9-12) and Marywood (13-4) in the second round. Hopkins and Vassar have met three times overall and once in the NCAA Tournament, a 5-1 win by the Blue Jays in the second round in 2011. JHU and Marywood have never faced each other on the court. The Blue Jays are 7-7 all-time in the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the quarterfinals in 2012 for the first time in program history.

Vassar earned a pool B selection, as the Liberty League does not have an automatic qualifier. The Brewers defeated the 27th-ranked Skidmore Thoroughbreds 5-2 in the Liberty League title match. Marywood earned the automatic qualifier out of the Colonial States Athletic Conference after defeating Immaculata, 5-0, in the title match.

Also in Hopkins' regional are host and 11th-ranked Middlebury (18-4), Drew (11-6) and Farmingdale State (12-1). Drew and Farmingdale State will square off in the other first round match on Friday, with the winner facing the host Panthers on Saturday. Middlebury earned an at-large bid out of the NESCAC after falling in the semifinals to eventual champion, Williams, by a 5-4 score. Drew won the Landmark Conference for the sixth straight year and will make its third straight NCAA Tournament appearance. The Rangers avenged a regular season loss to the Scranton Royals with a 5-4 win in the conference title match. Farmingdale State earned the automatic qualifier for the Skyline Conference, after winning its third straight title. The Rams defeated the Knights of Mount Saint Mary, 5-1, to claim the Skyline title and NCAA bid.

Times and match details of the Middlebury Regional will be announced on Tuesday, May 7. The winner of the regional will advance to the NCAA Elite 8 in Kalamazoo, MI on May 20.
