ANNVILLE, PA - Host Lebanon Valley used a pair of first-half goals and 12 saves from goalie Chloe Baro to defeat Johns Hopkins, 2-0, in non-conference field hockey action Wednesday afternoon. The Blue Jays slip to 3-2 on the season while the Dutchmen improve to 2-4.

Megan Harris put the hosts on top early as Lebanon Valley capitalized on the first of its 10 corners on the day. Laura James struck the corner for the Dutchmen, sending the ball up top to Harris, who blasted a shot past sophomore goalie Zoey Atabek just 4:09 into the game. Hopkins came right back on offense and got off three straight shots, but were unable to find the equalizer.

The Dutchmen responded with heavy pressure on the Blue Jay cage and were able to convert at the 28:05-mark. Following another corner, Melissa Brosious collected a loose ball, dribbled along the right baseline and slipped a shot past Atabek to put LVC up 2-0. Hopkins came out firing in the second half, putting sustained pressure on the Dutchmen cage but Baro and the defense held.

Atabek turned in her third double-digit save performance in the last four outings, finishing with 13 saves. She also got a pair of defensive saves from senior Sarah Henderson and sophomore Elena Gresick. Baro finished with 12 saves, with 11 of those coming in the second half, while also getting a defensive save from Brosious. Lebanon Valley outshot Hopkins, 18-17, and had a 10-7 advantage in corners.

Hopkins returns to action and Centennial Conference play on Saturday, September 21. JHU travels to Allentown, PA to take on Muhlenberg in a 1:00 pm match-up.
