MANAHAWKIN, NJ – Johns Hopkins field hockey coach Jane Wells, associate head coach James Albanese and assistants Kristen O'Rourke and Claire Trilling have been named the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Region V Coaching Staff of the Year.
This is the fifth straight year and sixth time in the last seven seasons that the Blue Jay coaching staff has been honored as the NFHCA's Region V Coaching Staff of the Year.
Wells and her staff led Hopkins to a 22-2 record, including a 10-0 mark in the Centennial Conference. This is the Blue Jays' seventh straight season with at least 19 wins and Johns Hopkins won its seventh straight Centennial Conference title. The Blue Jays earned their seventh consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament, made a sixth appearance in the final four and finished as the national runner-up for the fourth time in five seasons.
In eight seasons at Homewood, Wells and her staff have led Hopkins to a 155-24 record (.866) and a 77-3 (.963) record in the Centennial Conference. Hopkins has produced six Centennial Conference Players of the Year, 39 All-Centennial selections, four NFHCA Region V Players of the Year, 31 NFHCA All-Region selections and 11 NFHCA All-Americans.
