The fifth-ranked Johns Hopkins men's tennis team split its squad and picked up a pair of victories this weekend, topping 11th-ranked Carnegie Mellon, 6-3, and Centennial Conference rival Dickinson, 8-1, to improve to 6-2 overall and 1-0 in the Centennial Conference.
Against the Tartans, the Blue Jays won two of the three doubles points and four of six singles matches to take the 6-3 victory.
Michael Buxbaum, Tanner Brown, and Erik Lim all took straight-set victories in singles and Jeremy Dublin claimed a three-set win at fourth singles to secure the victory for the Blue Jays. Buxbaum, Brown and Lim dropped only a combined 16 games in claiming their wins at first, third and sixth singles, respectively.
Against the Red Devils, the Blue Jays claimed all three doubles points and five straight-set victories in singles to ease to the victory.
The Blue Jays will return to action on Saturday, March 29 when they host Swarthmore in a Centennial Conference match. The Blue Jays topped the Garnet in the Centennial Conference semifinals last season en route to their seventh consecutive league title.
