HANOVER, MD - Dickinson senior Joseph Tursi finished 3-for-6 at the plate with four RBIs, as the Red Devils used a five-run seventh inning to hand Hopkins its third defeat of the season, 11-5. The loss marks the first Blue Jay defeat to the Red Devils since April 13, 2009, and drops JHU to 12-3 (0-1 CC) on the season. Dickinson improves to 15-2 (1-0 CC) with the win.

Hopkins was behind from the get-go, as Dickinson went up 2-0 on two hits in the top of the first. The Jays left two stranded in the bottom of the inning, and another two runs put Dickinson up 4-0 heading into the bottom of the second. Hopkins fired back in the second, as sophomore Kyle Gillen and senior John Maxwell both drove in runs to cut the deficit back to two.

Dickinson answered right back in the third, getting its first two runners on with no outs. A two-out single from freshman Ryan Dolan drove in a runner from third and put his team up 5-2 before senior RHP Zach Augustine forced a lineout to end the inning.

Hopkins used a two-out rally of its own to get a run back in the bottom of the fourth, as junior Craig Hoelzer and Gillen both walked. An RBI single from Maxwell drove in a runner to bring Hopkins within two, but the Red Devils forced a groundout from McCarthy to get out of the inning.

Down 6-3 heading into the top of the seventh, a two-out Dickinson rally opened up the lead, giving Hopkins little hope of a comeback. A bases loaded double from junior Steven Haynes scored two, while a single from Tursi in his ensuing at bat brought two more in to put the Red Devils up 10-3. A pair of singles from Matt Primavera and Henry Milano manufactured another run, before a strikeout from sophomore RHP Ross Lazicky got the Jays out of the inning.

The Jays were able to tack on two runs in the eighth, but it was not enough as senior RHP Ryan Kramer retired the side in order in the bottom of the ninth to end the game.

Hopkins will have an opportunity to even the series with Dickinson this Friday, April 4 when the team travels to Carsile, PA to face the Red Devils at 3:30 pm.
