SALISBURY, MD - Salisbury used 13 hits and a solid starting pitching performance from junior Brett Collacchi to dispatch Hopkins 14-1 on an overcast and rainy Monday afternoon. The Blue Jays traveled light with an underclassmen-heavy roster for their regular season finale, as the moved to 22-16 on the year with the loss. Salisbury improves to 30-7 on the year with the victory.
The Seagulls slowly built their lead from the game's first inning on, bringing in at least one run in the first four innings. Salisbury broke the game wide open in the fifth inning, using three hits including a home run from senior Quinn Griffith to go up 11-0.
In the top of the eighth, freshman Thomas Mee got Hopkins on the board with his first career home run over the left field fence. At the conclusion of the inning, the game was called early due to rain to give Salisbury the victory.
Hopkins will now turn its focus to the Centennial Conference playoffs, which begin on Thursday, May 1 in Gettysburg, PA. The Blue Jays will travel to face the Bullets for the third time this season after splitting the regular season series 1-1.
