BALTIMORE, MD - Fifth-ranked Johns Hopkins shut out visiting Franklin & Marshall, 9-0, in Centennial Conference action Tuesday afternoon. The Blue Jays improve to 9-4 overall and 4-0 in the CC, winning their 69th straight CC regular season match. The Diplomats suffer their first CC loss of the season as they fall to 8-4 overall and 4-1 in the conference.

Freshman Jeremy Dubin and junior Erik Lim gave Hopkins a quick 1-0 lead in the match with an 8-1 win at second doubles over Joshua Kane and Doug Kaplan. Freshmen Michael Buxbaum and Emerson Walsh then defeated Nolan Bacchieri and William MacArthur, 8-4, at first. Sophomore Nicholas Garcia and freshman Jeff Mackenzie closed out doubles play with an 8-5 win over Parint Lertdumrikam and Benjamin Stern at third.

Buxbaum was the first one off the court in singles play after he beat MacArthur 6-4, 6-3 at first. Junior Ben Hwang then clinched the win for the Blue Jays with a 6-4, 6-4 defeat of Kaplan at second. Junior Sam Weissler followed with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Kane at fourth. Garcia won a close 7-6 (6) decision in the first set and then cruised to a 6-2 win in the second to defeat Bacchieri at third. Due to water on courts five and six, the fifth and six singles matches were played once first and second singles had been completed. Due to the match having already been decided, the matches were decided by eight-game pro sets. Walsh prevailed, 8-1, over Stern at fifth and Mackenzie beat Lertdumrikam, 8-3, at sixth.

Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, April 12 as the Blue Jays travel to the Main Line to take on the Haverford Fords. The CC match is slated for a 10:00 am start.
