BALTIMORE, MD - Seventh-ranked and top-seeded Johns Hopkins won its eighth straight Centennial Conference title on Sunday with a 5-1 win over second-seeded Swarthmore. The Blue Jays improve to 18-4 on the season and earn the conference's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament. The Garnet finish the season at 12-8.

Hopkins took a 2-0 lead with wins at first and second doubles before Swarthmore grabbed a win at third. The Blue Jays then earned wins at third, fourth and sixth singles to take the win and the title. Juniors Tanner Brown and Erik Lim gave Hopkins its first point of the match as they beat Anthony Collard and Thomas Vernier at second by an 8-4 score. Freshmen Michael Buxbaum and Emerson Walsh followed with a close 9-8 (3) win at first over Max Kaye and Harrison Lands. Christian Carcione and Dan Park made it a 2-1 match heading into singles with a 9-8 (5) win over sophomore Nicholas Garcia and junior Noah Joachim at third.

Freshman Jeremy Dubin was the first one done in singles and quickly pushed the Blue Jays lead in the match to 3-1 as he defeated Irving Stone 6-2, 6-0 at fourth. Lim then battled back from a one-set deficit to win in three sets at sixth. Carcione won the first set 6-4, but Lim rebounded to win 12 of the final 13 games to take the match 4-6, 6-1, 6-0. Brown then closed out the match with a 7-5, 6-2 win at third over John Larkin. Larkin was up 5-1 over Brown in the first set, but the Blue Jay captain rallied to win the first set before taking the second set and clinching the win for JHU. Brown was named the CC Tournament MVP after going 2-0 in doubles and 1-0 in singles.

Hopkins will learn its NCAA Tournament fate on Monday, May 5 when the bracket is announced at 7:00 pm.
