The Eagles responded with wins at third and first to take their first lead of the match. Andrew Curtis and David Lunding-Johansson tied the match at 1-1 with an 8-3 win over senior Tanner Brown and Kang at third. Tyler Carey and Evan Charles then put Mary Washington on top as they edged sophomore Jeremy Dubin and senior Noah Joachim, 9-8 (3), at first.

Senior Jensen Reiter grabbed the first singles point to tie the match at 2-2, as he lost just two games in a 6-1, 6-1 win over Charles at fifth. Buxbaum and Carey were in a battle at first singles in a meeting of two of the top five players in the Atlantic South. Buxbaum took the first set, 7-6 (3) but Carey claimed the second 6-4 to force a deciding set.
