Johns Hopkins Blanks McDaniel to Complete Unbeaten Centennial Slate

BALTIMORE, MD - The 11th-ranked Johns Hopkins men's tennis team shutout visiting McDaniel, 9-0, in the final match of the regular season Monday afternoon. The Blue Jays improve to 15-7 overall and 9-0 in the Centennial Conference, running their conference win streak to 83. The Green Terror finish their season with an overall record of 3-12 and an 0-9 mark in the CC.

The Blue Jays opened the match with a sweep of the doubles, losing just two games in the process. Senior Edward Corty and sophomore Jeff Mackenzie picked up the first point with an 8-0 win over Corey Glocker and Will Giles at third. Seniors Ben Hwang and Jensen Reiter then blanked Philip Jorgensen and Daniel Xinis, 8-0, at second. Seniors Tanner Brown and Erik Lim closed out doubles with an 8-2 defeat of Seth McFall and Satchel McCarthy at first. The win was a milestone one for Lim, as it was the 100th combined win of his career. He is the second player this season and 10th in program history to reach the milestone. Brown, his longtime doubles achieved the milestone earlier this year.

Mackenize kicked off singles play with a win over Xinis at fourth, 6-0, 6-1. Freshman Justin Kang then clinched the win for the Blue Jays at sixth as he beat Glocker 6-0, 6-0. Freshman David Perez followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Giles at fifth. Sophomore Mike Buxbaum beat McFall at first 6-0, 6-2 and junior Chris Jou won by the same score over McCarthy at second. Corty closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win at third over Jorgensen.

Hopkins returns to the court on Saturday, May 2 as the Blue Jays host the Centennial Conference Championship for the ninth straight year. Hopkins will take on the winner of Haverford-Dickinson in the semifinals at 11:00 am at the JHU Tennis Courts.
