? The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins men's soccer team got the only goal it needed from senior Andrew Park to defeat visiting York, 1-0, on Wednesday night in non-conference action. The Blue Jays snap a four-game winless streak in the series as they improve to 4-2-1 while the Spartans fall to 2-3-1.
How it Happened
? Sophomore Michael Swiercz had a beautiful give-and-go with freshman Cole Rosenberger but Charlie Johnson got his foot on Swiercz's chip to keep the game scoreless in the 29th minute.
? York just missed on the go-ahead goal in the 39th minute off the head of Joel Teston. Ryan Donahue played a nice cross into the box to Teston, but his header just missed wide of the left post.
? Hopkins got on the board in the 50th minute with senior Andrew Park's second goal of the season. He split a pair of defenders at the top of the box, dribbled in and blasted a shot inside the right post.
? The Blue Jays nearly doubled their lead less than a minute later. Rosenberger sent a ball into the box and junior Victor Osio one-touched it towards the left post but Johnson made a great save.
? York had a shot to draw level in the 60th minute after earning a free kick about 10 yards outside the left corner of the box. The ball ricocheted out to Keegan Willson, but his shot was blocked by the defense.
? Rosenberger nearly had his second of the season in the 64th minute when he beat a defender and then ripped a shot that rocked off the upper left corner of the goal.
? York had a flurry of chances in the final minute, one a shot from Peter Lundgaard that junior Bryan See got his hands on. The ball came right back to Brendan Saberton, who headed a hard shot towards the goal, but it hit the crossbar and See was able to control the rebound.
What it Means

? Senior Andrew Park's goal in the 50th minute was the first goal the Blue Jays had scored against the Spartans since a 2-1 Hopkins win on September 8, 2010.
? This is the 14th meeting (out of 30) between the two that was decided by just one goal.
