WESTMINSTER, MD -- The 26th-ranked Johns Hopkins men's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 win at McDaniel Friday night in Centennial Conference action. The Blue Jays dropped a total of just three games as they improved to 13-5 overall and 7-1 in the conference, while the Green Terror fall to 0-12 on the season and 0-8 in the Centennial.
Juniors Mike Buxbaum and Jeremy Dubin won 8-0 at first doubles over Will Giles and Matthew Diers. Freshman Scott Thygesen and sophomore David Perez turned the same trick at second in their win over Corey Glocker and Andrew Kendrick. Junior Jeff Mackenzie and freshman Colin Muraika won be default at third.
In singles action, Buxbaum and sophomore Justin Kang needed just 12 games each to win at first and fifth respectively. Buxbaum topped Giles while Kang beat Tate Myers. Perez, Dubin and freshman Scott Thygesen meanwhile, lost just one game each in their wins. Perez won 6-1, 6-0 over Glocker at second and Dubin was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Diers at third. Thygesen beat Kendrick, 8-1, at fourth and Mackenzie won by default at sixth.
Hopkins closes out the regular season on Saturday, April 30 against visiting Washington College. The Centennial Conference match is slated for an 11:00 am start.
