• The Short Story: The 17th-ranked Johns Hopkins men's tennis team did not lose a set as the Blue Jays beat the host Gettysburg Bullets, 9-0, Wednesday afternoon.
How it Happened
• Junior Justin Kang and freshman Joseph Cartledge lost just one game in their win over Kevin DeRosa and Kevin Maier at first doubles.
• Freshmen Austin Gu and Cody Kim beat Christian Deschapelles and Nick D'Amore, 8-4, at second.
• Freshmen Nathan Safran and Matt Sklar won by the same score at third over Max Nickel and Rob Sharpe.
• The Blue Jays then swept the singles matches in straight sets with Kang clinching the win for Hopkins. Kim beat Deschapelles 6-1, 6-3 at first and Gu won by an identical score at second over DeRosa.
• Kang lost just one game as he beat D'Amore at third and Cartledge beat Maier 6-2, 6-2 at fourth.
• Sklar defeated Andrew Corwin 6-2, 6-3 at fifth and Safran won 6-2, 6-0 over Nickel at sixth.
What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 42-14 all-time against Gettysburg and has won 20 straight in the series.
• The win is the 197th for head coach Chuck Willenborg, who is in his 12th season at the helm of the Blue Jays.
