• The Short Story: Playing without its number one player, the Johns Hopkins men's tennis dropped a 6-3 decision to visiting and second-ranked Emory Friday afternoon.

How it Happened
• Junior David Perez and sophomore Scott Thygesen gave Hopkins the first point of the match as they beat David Omsky and Jonathan Jemison, 8-4, at third doubles.
• Freshman Joseph Cartledge and senior Jeremy Dubin pushed the Blue Jays' lead to two with an 8-3 win over Scott Rubinstein and James Spaulding, the number one doubles team in the Atlantic South.
• Max Renke and Adrien Bouchet cut the deficit in half for the Eagles as they beat junior Justin Kang and senior Emerson Walsh, 8-6, at second.
• Jemison evened the score as he grabbed the first singles point and beat Thygesen 6-2, 6-2 at second. Bouchet then gave Emory a 3-2 lead in the match as he defeated freshman Austin Gu 6-2, 6-1 at third.
• Walsh tied the match at three with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Spaulding at fourth. Alec Josepher followed with a 6-1, 7-6 (5) win over Perez at fifth to put the Eagles back on top.
• Josh Goodman then clinched the win for Emory as he beat freshman Aaron Carey 6-2, 6-4 at sixth. Aman Manji ended the match with a 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (3) win at first over Dubin.

What it Means
• Hopkins falls to 1-7 all-time against Emory, with the Eagles winning the last three meetings.

For the Record
• Dubin is now tied for 17th in school history with 44 career doubles wins. Walsh now has 98 career wins combined, leaving him two shy of his 100th win.

• Hopkins is back in action with a pair of contests on Saturday, April 15 as JHU hosts Haverford and Christopher Newport. The Blue Jays and the Fords will meet in Centennial Conference action at 11:00 am and will then face the Captains at 2:00 pm.
