• The Short Story: The 21st-ranked Johns Hopkins men's tennis team picked up another in-region win against a ranked opponent as the Blue Jays beat the 17th-ranked Mary Washington Eagles on Monday afternoon.

How it Happened
• Hopkins swept the doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead into singles play. Junior David Perez and sophomore Scott Thygesen picked up the first point of the match with an 8-6 win over Joseph Brown and Patrick Hughes at third.
• Freshman Joseph Cartledge and senior Jeremy Dubin earend their fourth win over regionally-ranked doubles team. The pair beat Ryland Byrd and Michael Fleming, ranked third in the Atlantic South, 9-8 (4), at first. Junior Justin Kang and senior Emerson Walsh wrapped up doubles with an 8-6 win at second over Derek Hagino and Matt Miles.
• Dubin opened singles play with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Miles at first to give the Blue Jays a 4-0 lead. Freshman Cody Kim then clinched the win with a 6-4, 6-1 defeat of Fleming at third.
• Hagino made it a 5-1 match when he beat freshman Matt Sklar 6-4, 6-2 at fourth. Perez then earned a hard-fought win at second 7-6 (5), 7-6 (7) over Hughes.
• Brown grabbed another point for the Eagles with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Kang at fifth. Freshman Aaron Carey closed out the match with a come-from-behind win at sixth over Byrd 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (9).

What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 13-5 all-time against Mary Washington and has won the last two meetings.
• The Blue Jays are now 4-2 against ranked opponents this season and have won their last two matches versus ranked teams.

For the Record
• Dubin earned his 100th career combined (singles & doubles) win. He is the 14th player in program history to reach the milestone and second this season. Dubin also moved into a tie for ninth in program history with 52 career singles wins.

• Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday as the Blue Jays host the Washington College Shoremen. The Centennial Conference match is slated for a 4:00 pm start.
