• The Short Story: The 21st-ranked Johns Hopkins men's tennis team beat visiting Washington College, 8-1, on Wednesday afternoon to remain unbeaten in Centennial Conference play.

How it Happened
• Freshman Cody Kim and junior Jacob Lin opened the match with an 8-3 win over Justin Panepinto and Matt Katz at third doubles. Freshmen Autin Gu and Nathan Safran gave Hopkins a 2-0 lead when they defeated Luke Weaver and Jeremy Novick, 8-5 at second.
• The Shoremen cut the Blue Jays' lead in half when Chris Salisbury and Jake Sandler beat sophomores Colin Muraika and Nakul Narendran, 8-6, at first.
• Safran earned the first singles point with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Weaver at third to put Hopkins up 3-1. Narendran then beat Salisbury 6-3, 6-1 at first.
• Freshman Aaron Carey clinched the win for the Blue Jays as he beat Sandler 6-2, 6-3 at second. Gu lost just two games at fourth as he defeated Novick 6-2, 6-0 at fourth.
• Freshman Elliot Seckler followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win over August Meriot at fifth. Lin wrapped up the win with a 6-4, 7-6 win over Panepinto at sixth.

What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 40-24 all-time against Washington College and has now won 14 straight in the series.
• Tonight's win sets the stage for a showdown with 27th-ranked Swarthmore with the number one seed and the right to host the Centennial Conference Championship on the line.

Up Next
• Hopkins travels to the Main Line to take Swarthmore on Saturday, April 29. The Centennial Conference match is slated for a 1:00 pm start.
