• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins baseball team went down early to SUNY Old Westbury, however, the Blue Jays scored the next 13 runs as JHU won the game against the Panthers by a score of 14-8.
How it Happened
• The Panthers got to
Nick Burns early in the first as John Condon singled home John Fogarty for the 1-0 lead.
• Old Westbury went up 3-0 in the second as Jonathan Dastagirzada and Joshua Cruz crossed the plate.
• Hopkins got a run back in the bottom of the frame on a
Tim Kutcher single to left.
• JHU scored four runs in the third to take a 5-3 lead.
Alex Darwiche and
Chris Festa both walked and scored on a triple by
Mike Ainsworth.
Adam Kohl hit a sacrifice fly to score Ainsworth and
Mike Smith scored the fourth run of the inning on a Panthers' error on a fly ball hit by
Austin Sacks.
• The Blue Jays added three more runs in the fourth as Smith cleared the bases with a double to left to go up 8-3.
• A
Mike Eberle single put JHU up 9-3 and Hopkins took an 11-3 advantage RBIs from Darwiche and Festa in the bottom of the fifth.
• RBIs from Sacks in the sixth and Smith in the seventh put Hopkins up 13-3.
• The Panthers put up two runs in the eighth, but JHU responded with a run in the eighth on an RBI single from
Robby Faris.
• Old Westbury scored three runs in the top of the ninth to pull to within 14-8, but
Seamus Ryan-Johnson would not let them get any closer as Hopkins took the game by a score of 14-8.

• Smith led Hopkins with three hits while Eberle, Kutcher and Ainsworth each notched two hits in the game. Smith also knocked in a team-high four RBI.
• Darwiche scored two runs in the game and also stole two bases. Kutcher also swiped two bases in the game.
• Burns went five innings allowing three runs (one earned) with seven hits, no walks and four strikeouts.
John Donohue pitched two perfect innings of relief with one strikeout.
David Glass and
