• The Short Story: Top-ranked Emory did not drop a set in beating the visiting and 17th-ranked Johns Hopkins men's tennis team, 9-0, on Saturday afternoon.
How it Happened
• The Eagles swept the doubles matches to jump out to a 3-0 lead in the match. Scott Rubenstein and James Spaulding picked up the first point of the match with an 8-3 win at first over senior David Perez and junior Scott Thygesen in a battle of regionally ranked doubles teams.
• Max Renke and Adrien Bouchet, the 10th ranked doubles pair in the Atlantic South, followed with an 8-6 win at second over freshmen Vishnu Joshi and Eric Yoo.
• Jonathan Jemison and Hayden Cassone completed the sweep with a hard-fought 9-7 defeat of sophomores Austin Gu and Joe Cartledge at third.
• Andrew Harrington took the first singles point when he beat Perez 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles. Cassone then beat Yoo 6-1, 6-4 at second to clinch the win for Emory.
• Rubinstein followed with a 6-0, 6-1 defeat of Cartledge at six to make it a 6-0 match. Bouchet then defeated Gu in a close 6-4, 7-5 match at fourth.
• Jemison, the fourth ranked player in the nation after the fall, pushed the lead to 8-0 as he beat Joshi 6-2, 6-4 at first. Alec Josepher closed out the match with a 6-4, 6-3 win over sophomore Cody Kim at third.
What it Means
• Hopkins falls to 1-7 all-time against Emory, including 0-4 in Atlanta.
• The loss is the first this season for the Blue Jays against a Division III opponent.

• Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday, April 4 at McDaniel. The Centennial Conference match is slated for a 4:00 pm start.
